ComputED's staff and directors are educators who provide the finest computer education for children and adults in the San Diego area. Inservices are offered to classroom teachers and school districts on how to implement technology in the classroom and select appropriate educational software. Directors of ComputED are Marie A. Karr, MA (pictured above) and Joan P. Yap, MS, educators who specialize in technology. ComputED's Educational Software Preview Service is available to school districts and the public in collaboration with San Diego Center for Educational Technology. The service offers previewing of past and current titles; clients are then referred to software publishers for purchase options. The Gazette is sponsor of two national software awards: The Education Software Review Awards (EDDIES) in the spring, and the Best Educational Software Awards (BESSIES) in the fall. The 2000-01 BESSIES are now open for entries - deadline is Jan. 15, 2001. BESSIES information here. (Winners of the EDDIES 2000 Awards are announced in this issue.) Our judges are encouraged to donate entries to nonprofit organizations and public schools.
