The ComputED Gazette is pleased to announce its 7TH ANNUAL BEST EDUCATIONAL SOFTWARE AWARD (BESSIES) - awards aimed at recognizing innovative, content-rich programs which are appropriate for family purchase on the retail market. The BESSIES have had the distinction of previously being co-sponsored by the CBS-affiliate in San Diego (KFMB-TV/Ch.8). The BESSIE Awards provide parents and teachers with a guide to the best children's educational software currently available.  Press releases go out to news media locally, nationally, and at prominent educational web sites on the Internet, including our own (http://www.computedgazette.com). Deadline for entries is January 15, 2001.

Software publishers are invited to submit entries (see Entry Form) in all academic areas, including (but not limited to) the categories:

  • Science
  • Math
  • Social Studies
  • Language Arts/Writing
  • Internet Tools and/or Websites
  • Foreign Language or ESL
  • Interactive Story
  • Multimedia Creation
  • Classic/Other

Awards are also given for Best of 2000. A single entry fee of $400 is required for up to 3 entries (add $75 for each additional entry). Entries are accepted in any/all categories (IBM and/or Macintosh platforms, CD-ROM preferred). Please submit three (3) copies of each title. Winners will receive formal award certificates and official camera-ready logos. Please make checks payable to "ComputED".

All submitted titles are available for demonstration to school districts, teachers, and the public throughout the year in ComputED's
Educational Software Preview Service. Clients will be referred to your company for purchases.

ComputED is pleased to be able to offer this public forum for recognizing the most creative educational software publishers in the nation, and providing a valuable resource for America's families.
