The ComputED Gazette is pleased to announce its 9th Annual Best Educational Software Awards (BESSIES) - awards aimed at recognizing innovative, content-rich programs & websites which are appropriate for school and home use. The BESSIES have had the distinction of previously being co-sponsored by the CBS-affiliate in San Diego (KFMB-TV/Channel 8). The BESSIE Awards provide parents and teachers with a valuable guide to the best educational software and websites.  Press releases are provided to news media locally and nationally, and electronic links reach tens of thousands of subscribers at prominent educational newsgroups and listservs on the Internet. Deadline for entries is January 24, 2003.

Software publishers and web-content providers are invited to submit entries (see Entry Form) in all academic areas, including (but not limited to) the categories:

  • Science
  • Math
  • Social Studies
  • Language Arts/Writing
  • Internet Tools and/or Websites
  • Foreign Language or ESL
  • Interactive Story
  • Multimedia Creation
  • Classic/Other

Awards are also given for
Best of 2002. A single entry fee of $400 is required for up to 3 entries (add $75 for each additional entry). Entries are accepted in any/all categories, and three (3) copies of each title are required. Winners will receive formal award certificates, official camera-ready and digital logos for promotional use. Please make checks payable to "ComputED".

All submitted titles are available to parents and teachers throughout the year via the
Educational Software Preview Service of San Diego Center for Educational Technology, a nonprofit organization. Clients will be referred to your company for purchasing options.

ComputED is pleased to be able to offer this public forum for recognizing the most creative educational software publishers in the nation and the world, providing a valuable resource for America's families.
