         ComputED Learning Lab, San Diego's leading computer education facility for children and adults, is pleased to announce its 5th Annual Education Software Review (EDDIE Awards*) - awards aimed at recognizing innovative and content-rich programs which are appropriate for use by educators, on a national scale, to augment the classroom curriculum and improve teacher productivity.  Last year's winners were selected from hundreds of titles submitted by software publishers from around the nation. Selection is based on academic content, potential for broad classroom use, technical merit, subject approach, and quality of management system. Deadline for submission of entries is June 9, 2000.
         EDDIE Award winners will be announced to the media locally, nationally, and at prominent educational websites on the Internet, including the ComputED website (http://computed.simplenet.com). When the awards are concluded, all entries will be showcased in ComputED's Software Preview Center, which is visited throughout the year by schools and educators in search of new educational software titles for the classroom.
         Software publishers interested in participating are invited to submit entries in all academic areas, including (but not limited to) the categories:

  • Early Learning
  • Early Elementary
  • Middle School
  • Upper Elementary
  • Secondary
  • Internet Tools
  • Educational Websites
  • Teacher Productivity Tools

         Unlimited titles are accepted in any/all categories. Platforms: IBM and/or Macintosh, CD-ROMs preferred. A single entry fee of $325 (per software publisher) is required, and this allows for submission of up to 4 titles. PLEASE SUBMIT 3 COPIES OF EACH TITLE. (Additional titles may be submitted, at a fee of $50 per title.)
         Formal award certificates will be issued to winners, as well as promotional logos. Please print out an ENTRY FORM to accompany the entry fee.

(BESSIEs) each fall. The BESSIE Awards have been recognized by the media, including the CBS-TV affiliate in San Diego, and local cable TV-channels. Winners of the 1999-2000  BESSIE Awards are posted.
